Abe Quinteros, LVN

Weekend Nurse

Abe Quinteros was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, with his two brothers and a younger sister. He is a twin, a Christmas gift to his parents. Abe joined the Air Force at the age of 19 and started his first career as a Logistician. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Business Administration and International Business, concentrating in Transportation and Logistics. He has worked for companies such as United Airlines, Raytheon and Delta-Beta In-Flight, an inflight entertainment company. He later earned his master’s degree in business administration from California State University-Channel Islands. For thirty-four years, he practiced his skills as a Logistician and Personalist for the Air Force, retiring in 2017 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. That same year he joined Oxnard High School to lead their Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). He retired from teaching in 2022. Abe continues to be a part-time weekend nurse at Heritage House and has been doing so since 2008.

Abe was convinced to move to Santa Barbara by his wife, Mari, a Santa Barbara native in 2003. He decided at that point to go back to school and pursue a degree in Health Care. Abe graduated from Santa Barbara City College with an Associates Degree in Vocational Nursing in 2005, graduating with honors. He has worked for various facilities within Santa Barbara, Goleta and Ventura. Additionally, he has served as an instructor for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Santa Barbara City College for the last twelve years and is patiently waiting for the college to restart the program. He is currently teaching with Ventura Training Institute as an on-line instructor for their CNA program. Someday, when time allows, he would like to pursue his Registered Nursing license. His wife, Mari, is a teacher at Riviera Ridge School, formerly known as Marymount. Sera, his older daughter, is attending SBCC and plans to transfer to UCSB, focusing on the sciences. Analisa, a sophomore at SBHS, is in the Visual Arts and Design Academy and plays Lacrosse. The boys of the family are Cody and Radar, his Dachshund mixed hounds. Together they enjoy traveling, hitting the road stateside, and flying to overseas locations. In Santa Barbara you’ll find him walking his dogs, or taking a light jog on the beach, enjoying the beautiful amenities that make up Santa Barbara.
