Sofia began nursing school when she was 15 years of age in Mexico. She graduated as Registered Nurse 4 years afterwards and worked in an acute care hospital up until her move to Santa Barbara to be close to her mother in 1996.

 

When Sofia arrived in Santa Barbara, she enrolled in City College for ESL studies, and attended regularly for 3 years. It was following her ESL studies that she began working in senior care facilities as a caregiver.

 

Sofia has been a valued employee with Heritage House since January of 2003 and  has been the Resident Care Director. She has recently been promoted as the Clinical Director and maintains her certification from the state of California as a Nursing Assistant.  She has a short term goal of regaining her Registered Nurse license again in the near future.

 

Sofia has a loving husband, a son 6 years and 11 years and have a dog named Princess.  She enjoys dancing, cooking, traveling to Mexico to visit family every opportunity that she can but most of all, Sofia especially enjoys quiet time with a cup of coffee when she can capture a moment.
